There is something magical about fall. All of the attention is focused on nature’s little dance that leaves everyone gazing at all of its rich, earthy colors. I tend to really take to this time of year because I love neutrals in everything from clothing to makeup. My personal style has always been on the natural side — I’ve never dyed my hair or done anything drastic to my look, maybe ever. So anything that enhances my natural look, like the golden tones in my skin, works for me. Mary Kay’s Enchanted Beauty theme for early fall was a perfect fit. On our shoot, one of the things that I LOVED about the creative process behind the advertorial was that Game of Thrones was a reference (we all know how I feel about that!). It was such a perfect image because having a bit of enchantment and mysticism in the story plays so well off of the rustic, ever-changing landscape of the set and characters. I even had mini braids in my hair!
I wanted to capture the magic of enchantment here in a way that is wearable for every day. We’ve all heard the word “wearable” a million times, but it’s what every girl needs when we look to these grand shoots in magazines to inspire us in our daily lives. When I saw this dress I knew that it had the softness and earthiness to fit the makeup look, which consisted of a glowy palette of burnt oranges, soft purples and spiced pinks. I associate this palette with richness and a golden glow, so touches of gold help take this look from say, the battlefield nurse Robb Stark’s wife, to queen Robb Stark’s wife. If you watch the show, you will totally get it!

I became enchanted myself with the makeup artist, Mariela Bagnato, who made me feel like I was glowing on this shoot!
