Ohh, Friday! Why can't you be bright and sunny!! It's been gloomy on the east coast all week, but it's partly an excuse to toss on some sneaks and chill a little bit. I like the contrast of wearing sneakers with a girly dress.  There's a fine line between hitting the right chic note and looking like a tourist.  Since it's pretty clear that sneakers are becoming more widely accepted, let's talk about a few things to keep in mind when  you're working them into your wardrobe.

Keep the colors in the same family-  I like to think about adding sneakers to a look like mixing prints.  It's about keeping it in the same color family so it all looks uniform and tied together.  The exception would be if you want to add a "pop of color" and in that case, make sure the colors are all the same saturation of color.

Think about proportion- Thinking about balance and proportion is the foundation of any good outfit.  I like the idea of a sneaker anchoring a flowy dress.  It's cute without being saccharine.  I also love cropped pants with sneakers.  Showing that little bit of ankle helps with proportion and is also a little quirky.

Balance the masculine with feminine- The contrast of the two makes for something unexpected and unique.  Florals and sneakers? Sign me up.

Those are my to pulling off this look. I'm excited to experiment more with it and my feet have been thanking me!  Have a great weekend!
