Hello, Wednesday! This is half workout post/ half fashion post because I've been living in some of these easy breezy pieces as I'm trying to up my workouts to really get into summer mode. The weather turned nice on the East Coast so I took a trip out to the beach with family and took advantage of the crisp sunshine and natural obstacle course that the ungroomed beaches provided. I usually walk around 4 miles and do some strength exercises but lately I've noticed a plateau so it was time to step up my game a bit if I want to feel excited about jumping into a bikini half tan for Memorial Day.
"Suicides", as it is referred to, is a word that conjures up memories of playing youth basketball and having to run back and forth on the court. It's great for cardio, agility and strength but it is TOUGH and will really test your endurance. It can be done on any surface but sand is the ultimate challenge. I used some random drift wood, sea weed and other random things (like a dead horseshoe crab) as markers on the sand. I was only able to do 3 sets before I retired for the day but I really felt it the next morning.
If your unfamiliar, it involves using 4 markers spread apart equidistant in a line and sprinting back and forth from the starting point to each marker, going further each time. When you hit the first marker, touch the ground and turn, returning to the starting point and then sprinting to the second marker, turning and sprinting back to start, and so on until you've touched each marker and back.
Try it for the first time or think about bringing back out again and adding it back to your routine. Sometimes with all of these fitness fads and stationary stretching we forget to test our endurance and challenge our heart rate.
*Side note, this bra is in stores but it's not online. It's my new favorite because it doesn't flatten your chest out but rather enhances what you have or in my case, what you don't have. ;-)
