Happy Thursday! I'm currently traveling up back to New York and then up to Nantucket for a wedding this weekend. I spent a few days in New Orleans and woke up early today to catch the pretty early morning light. My boyfriend lives right in the heart of the French Quarter which can be like living in Disney World; it's a complete tourist mecca. That aside, there's something magical about it and if you are lucky enough to get up early and stroll the Quarter you will really catch the true charm of it all. The streets smell like lemon (they spray lemony scented soap to wash the grime from the night before) and it's SO quiet with the exception of a few shopkeepers getting their stores ready for the day. The light filters into the side streets and illuminates all of the weathered buildings and cobblestones. There are so many secrets and stories that live in this area and you can really feel that when you're there.
Outfit-wise, I find myself not needing to be so super dressed up as much lately. I'm enjoying embracing a relaxed silhouette and easy breathable fabrics to combat the heavy swampy heat. I'm a sucker for anything in this silhouette. The bag doesn't really match but whatever, I like it anyway. The fabric of this dress is actually a little thicker than the gauzy fabrics you tend to see so it's actually probably more suited to the Nantucket climate I'll be in this weekend.. a great transition piece into a northern summer!
Hope you all have a great day!
