A Hint of Saloon

Lindsey Calla

Top: Banana Republic, Skirt: 213, Belt: Anthropologie, Shoes: Miu Miu, Necklace: LOFT

There is something unexpected about mixing something western, which seems to have a masculine undertone, with something really feminine like tulle and glitter.  It keeps the outfit from looking overly saccharine.

The inspiration du jour: A little Carrie Bradshaw, a whole lot D&G Spring '10, and a hint of saloon.  This reminds me of that scene in The Devil Wears Prada where Andy can't see the difference between the two identical belts during the run through and Stanley Tucci notes: "Well, you know me.. Give me a full ballerina skirt and a hint of saloon and I'm on board"  Exactly.

Rachel from That's Chic also did an outfit like this HERE. Always fun to see how other bloggers interpret things!

Apres-Snow

With the Winter Olympics, the snowicane, and D&G;'s Fall/Winter '10 collection, I'm feeling very apres-ski at the moment. Very much wishing I was hanging out in Aspen with big fuzzy boots on because at least you can ski and do fun snow things there.

Now why couldn't D&G; have come along a little bit sooner this year? I loved all of the fair isle and cable knit pieces, especially the hot pants! I am so wishing that I dressed like this all winter. I'm also totally bedazzling my ski goggles.
My only gripe about thick knits is that they add bulk which can be annoying, but according to Miuccia Prada, her Fall collection, and the models she sent down the runway, pin thin is out. Bring on the Cadbury mini-eggs!
