I'm really feeling a super sleek 70s vibe here and another dose of healthy, vibrant color.  This is the moment where I would say that investing in an impeccably tailored pant is so necessary but the thing is, I didn't really "invest" because the price was so great.  You get the general idea.

It's nice to be back into a normal routine again.. Speaking of getting back into a groove, check out this Elle street snapshot!

Hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend. xo

Beyond the Fold

I'm definitely not letting the brutal weather deter me from taking outfit shots so I figured if I'm going to shoot inside then it has to be in one of the most beautiful places in New York: The New York Public Library.  If it's good enough for Carrie to almost get married in then it's good enough to make le blog.  Plus, how can I resist some classical architecture?  Especially when this Club Monaco skirt has a folded structure to it that reminds me of chiseled fabric on a marble statue.  You know, when you walk up to an old statue and the cloak looks almost like it's moving but then you touch it and it's actually structured and carved precisely? That perfectly describes this skirt and my love for it.

Here's the deal lowdown: I lucked out on this scarf because I found it laying on the floor with no tag so the sales guy gave it to me for $4.00.  I mean.... and I can't even go there about the deal I got on these shoes.  The guy at Bergdorfs who works the shoe sale recognized me from the last time, err.. times I went on a 2nd floor shoe binge.  A strange feeling of embarrassment mixed with pride washed over me as I handed over my account number.  I swear they were a really good price!

Slipping on a pair of high-rise wide leg jeans is so refreshing.  These puppies have been sitting in my closet since the last time this style was hot and I'm so glad I held onto them.  I love pulling old things out of my closet and making them feel new again.  The slate color keeps them less 70s and more fresh and modern.

When it comes to sunglasses I always come back to a big over-sized pair.  I've dabbled with other shapes and I'm dying to find a great cat-eye pair, but I know these will always be classic.  I also have to confess that they did a great job at covering up my tired eyes since I uncharacteristically stayed out till 4:30am at Le Bain the night before.. Woops.

Are you guys going to the IFB Conference?  I hope to meet some of you if you are!  Don't forget I'm speaking on the "Working with Brands Gracefully" panel which is Feb 10th from 2-3:30pm.  Now if only I can figure out what to wear! Oh how I wish it was warm out for Fashion Week!

Subway Series

Sorry for the scattered post schedule!  Things have been really crazy lately and the weather is just horrendous!  It's been snowing basically every week and the temps are beyond freezing.  The only real way to deal with it is to go indoors or underground.  The subways in New York are a character all their own and I had a blast just riding the subway for a few hours with no real place to go.   I felt like I wanted an outfit that completely contrasted the gritty, rough feel of the underground and pictured an elegant, polished look with some fur and jewels.

I just love the rich chocolaty color of this dress and decided to run with a palette of muted greys and lots of texture to go with it.  The earrings are a really special find.  I was given some really old Guatemalan silver jewelry that was purchased way back in the 60s and was just totally tarnished but still stunningly beautiful.  A little baking soda and a toothbrush restored them to a wearable shiny silver and I'm completely in love with them.  Here's to bringing back the big earring!

But my favorite part of this look is the hidden buckle detail in the back of the dress.  It brings a ton of meaning to the phrase: Hate to see her go but love to watch her leave.

Hope you all had a great weekend! I just put up a video for Stylesip on some of my top secret hair tricks!  You can check it out HERE

cold

I'm so over saying how cold it is so I'm not even going to go there anymore because I'm sure you are bundled up somewhere reading this.  I figure if I throw on some chic sunglasses that it will make me feel warmer, like I'm somewhere fabulously tropical.  In real life I've actually been crazy busy running laps around the city, up and down the subway steps, lugging bags and trying not to be late to all of my appointments.  I've also been layering up like Michelin woman and I swear if I fell down the subway steps I would come out completely unharmed because of all the padding.  Guess there's an upside to everything!

I've been wearing this sweater to death because it is perfectly oversized without looking bulky.  It has the best shape because I hate when sweaters fit your upper half but then cling around the butt/hip area.. Blech!  I also got it for under a $100 which is insane considering it is Vince.

Hope you enjoy the video below!  I think I will start adding these to my outfit posts if you guys like them!
