There really is no one better to reference than Matisse when it comes to placing colors and prints together so that they work with each other, not against. He was obsessed with textiles and fabrics, and in 2005 The Met put on the most amazing exhibit where they showcased his collection of textiles next to the works of art they inspired. One of my favorite museum experiences to date.
Also finding its way into my inspiration is the anti-skinny trend seen on the LV and Prada Fall runways. Achieved through a full skirt and bulkier fabrics, I had to belt my waist to not get completely lost in the mix.
