Hill Country Heaven
I had the pleasure of staying a night at the Lake Austin Spa before Christmas to do something a little healthy for myself before the holidays kicked into high gear. My boyfriend's family is in Austin so it truly was an escape without having to escape very far. Only fantastic things have ever been said about this place so I had to go check it out for myself. The idea of a healing, fit escape has been gaining a lot of traction but Lake Austin Spa, and Austin itself for that matter, has always been on the forefront of "wellness" before it was cool to be well. For one, you're submerged deep in the beautiful, lush hill country amongst wildlife and sparkling water. That alone is relaxing but there's something about the low key, Texas atmosphere that feels you just stepped into a friend's lake house but instead of charring fatty steaks on the grill you can sit outside under the stars and consume healthy gourmet meals.
I was excited to indulge in as much as I could possibly fit in in barely two days so here are some of the things we got up to during our stay.
Since it was a little chilly for part of our stay we spent a ton of time in the heated pool barn. It's the chicest rustic pool I've really ever seen and from the outside you would think it was
This is obviously a must-do and I treated my boyfriend to a couples massage and then went off on my own to try the LakeHouse Signature facial. I'm a huge fan of micro current for facial toning and I was thrilled to see that my esthetician added it onto my treatment. She used a lot of rosehip and inca inchi (new ingredient that I've never heard of!) to stimulate collagen and wake up tired skin. I ended up not even putting make up on after when I left which is always an awesome sign of a good facial. I'm a big fan of organic, natural ingredients and the menu here offers an extensive list. They also have a cart full of herbs from the garden that make it into some of their treatments.
Put me by some water and I'm a calm, happy girl. Put me by some water while doing yoga and I may never leave. There are so many things I could have done from barre classes to SUP and with more time I would have tried everything. We just wanted to be outside and relax as much as possible and take in the serenity of the environment.
