This is one of my favorite poses and one that I don't get to practice too often in my power yoga classes. I spend so much time hunched over a computer screen that I can feel my chest collapse into my body. That tightness in the chest also happens when I'm stressed, resulting in terrible shallow breath and increased anxiety. I feel it this time of the year because there's so much to get done and keep up with before the end of the year. I find that when I practice opening my heart that it literally and figuratively gets me to expand my heart, my mind, and my body so that I can get rid of all of that negative energy.
I'm excited that 2016 I'll be looking to expand my practice as a whole and really put focus on teaching and leading. It's something that I've been wanting to do for a while but I wanted to feel ready and confident to move forward with it. Should be an exciting journey!
